5. make a shortcut just like the one provided:
"c:\hl2\root\hl2.exe" -steamlocal
6. double click on it and sit back, enjoy HL2 without STEAM

ok, i've seen tooooo many people having problem with gizma's unpacker in command prompt, so here's a guide, follow this STEP BY STEP and nothing, (REPEAT, NOTHING) will go wrong:
1. create a folder called "hl2" in c:\ (using Windows Explorer)
2. copy the decrypter to that folder
so now you should have a folder called "hl2" under "C" and files called: "hlunp.exe" "unpackhl2.cmd"
IMPORTANT: after installing HL2, do not let steam update itself
3. copy all the GCFs from "SteamApps" (if you can't find that, then you didn't even try to crack the game ) to c:\hl2
4. open command prompt and type "cd c:\"
5. type "cd hl2"
6. type "unpackhl2 c:\hl2 c:\hl2"
7. make a cup of tea and sit back
8. now press enter to exit command prompt
9. look inside the c:\hl2 and you will notice a folder called "root"
10. there you go, decrypted
