RCT3 Patch 1 - NOCD

I recently bought 'roller coaster tycoon 3' but have problems playing it from the disk. Atari just released a new patch, thus meaning the old nocd crack doesnt work with this new patch.

just to warn u that your no-cd on the site atm is out of date and needs replacing ^^

thx

wrong, when you replace it with the old .exe the majority of the patch changes arnt carried over.

Yep, it's the exe itself that has most of the updates in it.

The patch to 1.1 retail works with the old 1.0 nocd exe file. I just tried it.

I got the nocd file from http://www.gamecopyworld.com/

I could see all the files being patched but 90% of them were ovl files so Im guessing it was mainly interface and bug fixes for different rides.

Can grab the full patch here since there is also a 1.a beta patch out to.

Yea, i've updated my game to the 1a FULL RETAIL PATCH.

Problem is, i need the NOCD for it to work. u CAN use the old nocd BUT if u replace it with the patched exe in your dir, then most of the fixes/changes are deleted and you're basically playing on an unpatched version again.

Indeed, the patched game does RUN with the old nocd exe, but in doing so you lose quite a lot of stuff that was updated by the patch (most likely everything that has to do with the game's stability and compatibility, and major additions like the "peep thoughts" window, etc...). In others words, while using the 1.0 nocd is an alternative, can't really say it's a perfect one :\

Well version number is 1.1 when I use it and I have no problems with the game, so it works fine for me.
About all I have to say on this matter really.
See ya around.

The game runs fine for me too, but still lacks some new features that should have been added by the patch, hence the need for an updated nocd exe (just look at the files size, the 1.1 exe is about 2mb bigger than the old one).

(not trying to be an annoyance here, just making the point that the "use old exe" trick doesn't cut it)

You're right though, there's just no use doing the update because from what I can tell it gets undone when you copy the old no-cd over the new exe. The patch shows itself updating other files besides the exe but I think this is just so those files can start referring to the new exe.

Well, actually you might still get some benefits from updating. Based on the filenames, I'd guess those "other files" are data files containing information about the way rides behave and such, so some bugs do get corrected whatever exe you use. Anyway, that doesn't get us anywhere near a true 1.1 nocd version. I'm wondering if that's the kind of game that gets enough attention to get cracked every time a new patch comes out (since that one might not be the last...).

All we ask for is an updated nocd, not really much to ask considering some people can make these things with ease

FYI... i've tried ALL methods of skipping the CD protection(S) in the game but never suceeded... this includes using a CLONE CD imagem with a "BWA" file, generic cracks and *ALL* the cloners around... NONE worked. Save your time and CD-R media and don't try any stupid stuff you read on the net...

Well At Least I tried...

I found this site by SCOURING every listing in google searching for the NOCD patch for the upgraded version of RCT3 (which i still haven't had any luck doing).

I did a hex comparison of the no-cd-cracked exe file, and the original exe file that ships with the game, I tried applying the same changes to the upgrade patch (i may have been using the beta upgrade not the official retail one - but anyway) with no luck. There are tons of differences.... I also tried disassembling the exe but w32Dasm wigs out at about 90% so I don't even get to view the disassembled exe. Maybe someone with more experience can figure it out -- I hope!!

I was invisioning my most glorious moment making everyone on the thread happy by posting a no-cd patched exe but NO LUCK! Sorry...

I would like to say one more thing about the importance of this patch. Anyone who's played the game will know that the patch fixes ALOT of very annoying bugs in the original software. These bugs interfere with gameplay enormously by spamming your console (which can take up 70% of the screen when full and not to mention makes an annoying beeping sound when you get a message) with "people not being able to exit the ride" (even tho the ride exit is on the path) VIPs not leaving the park (making some scenarios impossible to complete and spamming you with 100s of "VIP is leaving the park" messages) and many more annoyances. There is some debate on the atari forum by people that are pissed at Atari for releasing such a "half-completed" game.

Now if you're wondering why I'm posting all this, it's to get the thread back on top and maybe someone who half-way knows what they're doing will come along and crack the CD protection. If you are one of those people and don't feel like downloading the entire game, I will provide you with EXE files of the game as it ships retail, the 1.0 no-cd cracked version, and the new 1.1 patched version that requires a cd.

Hopefully someone will get a fix for this soon Until then, it's still a great game and I'm very impressed with it!!!

Thanks for your effort!

I think the problem here is release groups will bother making a no-cd for the original release because it's all part of the 'scene wars'. They all rush to see who can get the first working releases of games out there, bundeled with (usually) their own no-cd.

After that they could care less about the majority of the games, such as RCT3. As you can see games like UT2004, Doom 3 etc get updated no-cds with each patch. I don't know why exactly, maybe they see this as a girly game which doesn't need any attention.

All I know is RCT is the biggest tycoon series yet, and I'm really surprised people weren't working on an instant no-cd for the patch.

I want this crack just as bad as you guys.

Just spent 3 hours working on it. Never cracked a game before, so i still have to learn a lot. Google teaches me nicely, though . That message "Please insert the RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 disc" is really starting to freak me out, so i'm gonna stop working on it for today. Anyways, i think more people should give it a go. It's a pretty cool challenge... It's not as hard as you think it is (don't ask why i didn't get it working then... ).

That's right. I guess it'll come out someday, but we gotta be a lot more patient than HL2/Doom3/<insert trendy game name here> players.
