somebody know if I can play FF7 between crossover games in Mac OS X??

I know this is way late but maybe someone trying to do this will find this message later (I just now found the verification email, lol). I have this game installed absolutely 100% into my 32 bit vista machine. Like so many people, I was only able to patch to the point of skipping the disk check but not getting past the insert disk screen; then I learned to patch with ollydbg, here are my notes:

patched with Ollydbg; I searched for the please insert disk text, found the line of code that
causes the disk check function to execute (this one was testing if EAX=EAX was true, if not it skips the cd check). The program assigned a value to EAX earlier depending on whether a cd was in the drive or not (this occured in line 00404B3F). Changed operation at this address to MOV EAX,ESI and filled with NOPs. It appears that esi is assigned a value depending on which disk is inserted (now the game goes past the "insrt disc _" screen no matter what).

It is unknown if these files can be patched again, your best bet is to start again with a fresh v1.02.

So my 12 year old discs kinda sorta kicked the bucket.

In any case, I have a long list of patches that remake the game.

I use:

Saint's Hi Res (includes Chocobo)
minigame patch
higher quality cloud
npc reconstruction
and ficedula's music


I got it to run smoothly on my XP system, but a while ago I killed that (not on purpose XD) and I'm now running the 7 RC x64. It seems to have solid legacy support. It's just giving me some trouble. To get everything to work is always a pain, but after several hours I can safely say I'm not sure what I'm forgetting.

I have to use the no-cd cracks, and I've tried several. I'm not paying 100 dollars for a game I've already bought (twice). Following all steps to the letter and installing everything properly and in the right order, I get the same issue many others are getting: Please Insert Disc One.

Preposterous. Mind boggling. I just don't get it. There's something clearly not there. I think it lies in the registry fix. It must be different for Vista/above. Or maybe just x64.

Anyways, in the registry instead of the usual list under SOFTWARE, you have to go to Wow6432Node under software to find all x86 programs. I'm not sure if this changes something or perhaps the change in address (which is under Program Files (x86) rather than just Program Files) makes the difference I don't know.
I do know I'm craving some FFVII again and I'd like to know if anyone has any thoughts on this. I'm not an experienced cracker, but I am a quick learner if anyone cares enough to give a crash course on this game's security measures I'd be happeh.


EDIT: Alright, I've uninstalled and figured that most cracks need to be implemented before any mods to the exe. Though I still get the same errors when trying to patch the 1.02 exe using this crack and THE BRAIN'S. Both run in compatibility and as admin, I do that with pretty much everything don't worry. Idk, I'm about to try putting the chocobo patch in, then trying to crack it, and hoping the high res patch will work over it.


Still no dice. I can confirm that no combination of patches and cracks out currently work for a no-cd on W7x64.


Holy crap what a discovery! Apparently if you run ff7 through ficedula's music mod, it bypasses any and all security. As long as you have an image mounted, you don't need a no-cd crack. Hmm, unfortunately this method does not apply any mods or patches you applied to the .exe.

Woah wait. Nevermind. Apparently it's just working altogether now. Hmm, well disregard this post then. This crack works awesome if you use it properly!
I know where I must've gone wrong! I never messed with the registries this time and it works perfectly.

Hmm, I'm still working through problems, but I got it cracked before even when it never confirmed it. Somehow. So I can get it to work again. I had to do a fresh uninstall and reinstall because I screwed up on a few of the mods. I suggest CCleaner to anyone who uninstalls this game with mods to clean their registry.

I can't extract the crack.exe is there any other good crack other than this?

Well Ive just signed up to download this and my anti virus went mad.

My computer detects the crack as a trojan virus... help??

Many cracks is detected as virus by norton or AVG. Its just because it breaks some of the acces rules to be able to play the game without a CD. Its a false alert 99.99999% of the times. I dont understand why people keep posting things like this on forums. Just go google and read -.-
