Uncharted Waters Online is a MMROPG set within several timelines during the Age of Exploration as a romantic and historic fictional account of the era. Players will live and play real world of 15th century to make their own history. Players may choose from among 6 nationalities: England, Dutch Republic, Ancien Régime in France, Spanish Empire, Kingdom of Portugal, and Republic of Venice. As well the player may choose from several occupations after choosing a basic class: adventurer, merchant, and soldier. Players are able to trade, explore, battle and join in live events such as "Great Sea Fights". Synopsis In the year 1453 AD, Constantinople, the capital of Byzantium Empire, was taken. The people of the Christian empire were terrified of the Turk's formidable military prowess and at the same time disappointed that they lost their only passage for Eastern trading. Meanwhile opposite the Eastern European region no longer the superpower it once was far to the West the Iberia Peninsula celebrated the birth of a new military state called Spain, a result of revolution. Hand in hand with Portugal she immediately launched a campaign of utmost importance-defeating the Muslim forces. Flag ship Portugal was forced to explore new routes around the African continent pressured by the legendary Christian Empire on the East and Muslim powers. Direct trade with India was of utmost importance. Spain was also determined to find new ways to the East far beyond the Atlantic Ocean entrusting Christopher Columbus for the task. OTHER KEY FEATURES A lot more features are ready in the game such as academic contest, poker game and more. ----------------------- The cbt of the game has just ended last Sept. 5 and they haven't announce the obt yet. I tried the game and i didnt have a chance to try some of the features above like owning a Island where you can farm, academic contest (coz I don't know where to join), poker (i don't know if this one requires you to buy a set of gaming card in-game), never see a GM online (>_<, maybe they're in other countries?), apartment (i have an apartment but it never had any furniture in it), never got a chance to upgrade my ship because they're too expensive and I was busy with trading but then got no money. You'll be confuse at the beginning when you play the game for the first time especially with the "enrollment mode". You have to register first in a class, meaning you have to choose what course you wanted. You'll have to choose from these 3: Adventurer (Explorer type), Merchant (Trade type), and Maritime (Battle type). The beginner (tutorial) class takes 30mins or more to finish (i don't know to the rest of the players coz it took me too long to finish it). I was also confused to what class should I get, like for example, I choose being a Merchant but you also have to choose what kind of merchant you liek. In every class there are also 5 or more types of jobs to choose from. Adventurer: -adventure learner -explorer -surveyor -biologist -fisher -excavator -helmsperson Merchant: -trade learner -foods dealer -yarn dealer -accountant -chandler -mineral trader -medicine trader -animal trader Maritime: -military learner -mercenary -bodyguard -brigand -jr. officer That is only the beginners jobs, there's also an Intermediate job and a Master jobs. :chinese: Just like what they said, it will take you 3 years to play this game. >_<

Pirates of the Burning Sea it's supposed to become free2play (if it's not already). That game was looking a lot more interesting than Uncharted Waters. Also BountyBay/Voyage Century Online it's another great game set in the era of discoveries. Those free MMORPGs are mostly refreshing because of the setting, mainly because it's a departure from your standard fantasy MMORPG. And let's not forget that Pirates of the Carribean online was announced for 2011...
I might give it another try once I get a new HDD and have some extra space. I love pirate/exploring games, despite the genre having very few titles. I also like the fact that there are very few titles, mainly because being a niche area, the quality it's maintained at around average or higher. So chances for disappointment are slim. Right now, unfortunately, I'm at my limit with the online games, so I'm on a prolonged break. Frag, I'm even on a single player games break

I'm also currently playing Uncharted Waters Online and I love it's nautical theme and the strategic sea battle of the game... I also love to buy/sell goods in the game.. it makes me rich!!!
